LNG Terminal
Case Study
Secured over $100 million in Louisiana Industrial Tax Exemption incentives for a $13 billion LNG export terminal.
Project Background
This client was developing a world-class liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The $13 billion project involved converting an existing liquefaction and regasification facility into a state- of-the-art LNG liquefaction and export facility with a production capacity of 16.45 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Upon completion, the project created approximately 200 jobs and became a key contributor to expanding global access to U.S. natural gas.
Results & Impact
Incentive Strategy and Award
The project qualified for Louisiana’s Industrial Tax Exemption Program (ITEP), which provides property tax abatements for qualifying manufacturing projects. Given the project’s scale and unique characteristics, Scimemi LLC worked closely with the client and state officials to address complex eligibility considerations and ensure the project met all program requirements.
The project was approved for participation in the Industrial Tax Exemption Program, securing over $100 million in property tax incentives.
